Peaks & Passes: The Silverton Send-Off

Alpine Loop Weekend Adventure – Silverton, Colorado

Join us for an unforgettable high-country UTV weekend in the heart of the San Juan Mountains at the Peaks & Passes: Silverton Send-Off. This two-day alpine adventure is based in the historic mining town of Silverton, surrounded by some of the most breathtaking off-road terrain in the country.

Towering peaks, historic mining routes, crystal-clear alpine lakes, and high mountain passes make this one of the most iconic Side-by-Side riding destinations in North America.

This weekend event is perfect for riders who want to experience the legendary Alpine Loop along with an incredible ride over Stony Pass, all while staying right in Silverton.

Basecamp in Silverton

Our home base for the weekend is Silverton Lakes RV Resort. One of the best parts about this event is we leave directly from the RV park and return directly to the RV park, so there’s no need to drive on the streets of Silverton.

You can unload your machine, hit the trail, and start enjoying the adventure immediately.

The RV park offers:

  • Full RV hookups
    • Cabins available on site
    • Incredible mountain views
    • Direct trail access

Be sure to call the RV park early to reserve your RV space or cabin, as spots fill up quickly during the riding season.

Two Incredible Rides

This weekend is packed with two legendary rides through the rugged backcountry of the San Juan Mountains.

Ride 1: The Legendary Alpine Loop

Silverton → Lake City → Silverton

One of the most famous off-road routes in Colorado, the Alpine Loop takes us across high mountain passes, through historic mining districts, and into some of the most beautiful alpine landscapes anywhere.

We’ll wind through old mining roads, climb breathtaking passes, and eventually arrive in the historic town of Lake City where we’ll stop for lunch and enjoy the small mountain-town atmosphere.

After lunch we’ll continue the loop back toward Silverton with plenty of stops for photos, scenery, and exploring historic sites along the way.

Expect incredible views, dramatic mountain terrain, and a ride you won’t forget.

Ride 2: Stony Pass Adventure

Silverton → Stony Pass → Return

Our second ride takes us on another spectacular high-country route over Stony Pass, one of the most scenic trails in the San Juan Mountains.

This trail climbs high above tree line, offering stunning views of rugged peaks, alpine valleys, and crystal-clear streams. Along the way we’ll explore historic mining areas and enjoy some of the most beautiful backcountry riding Colorado has to offer.

This ride showcases a completely different side of the Silverton area and is the perfect way to wrap up an incredible weekend in the mountains.

What you must bring

Water: Staying hydrated is crucial, especially during off-road adventures. Pack enough water to last you throughout the day.

Spare Tire: Off-road terrain can be unpredictable. Having a spare tire is essential in case of punctures or other tire-related issues.

Spare CVT Belt: A spare Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) belt is essential for UTVs. It's a critical component, and having a spare can save you from being stranded.

Tools: Carry a basic toolkit with tools like wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and other essential tools for quick repairs on the trail.

Full Tank of Gas: Before each ride or day, ensure your UTV has a full tank of gas. Off-road trails can be remote, and having ample fuel is a must.

Highly Recommended:

Communication Radios: Communication radios are invaluable for staying connected with your group, especially in areas with limited cell reception. They enhance safety and coordination on the trails.

Cell Phone: While communication radios are essential, bringing your cell phone is still important for emergency situations. Ensure it's fully charged and protected from the elements.

These must-haves and recommendations will help ensure your UTV off-road adventures are safe, enjoyable, and well-prepared for any challenges that may arise during your journey.
